What is a pompadour?
Length concentrated at the front — usually eight centimetres or more — cut so it can be lifted and swept back, with the sides kept short so the volume reads clearly. The 2026 version is softer than the Elvis original: matte finish, less height, more movement.
How do I actually style one?
Blow-dry damp hair backwards with a round brush or your fingers, then work a matte paste through with the hair already dry. Product before drying kills the lift. Your barber will show you on your own head — ask them to, it is part of the hour.
Do I have enough hair for a pompadour?
You need real length and reasonable density at the front. If you are not there yet, your barber can cut a shape now that grows into one, rather than telling you no and sending you away.
