What makes a fade “low”?
The height of the fade line. On a low fade the blend begins near the top of the ear and the natural hairline at the temple, travelling down from there. Everything above stays at its cut length, so the head keeps its natural silhouette. It is the most conservative of the three heights and the easiest to live with.
Who does a low fade suit?
It flatters most head shapes, and it is the safe choice if your hairline is receding at the temples or if you simply do not want the cut to be the loudest thing about you. It also pairs with almost any top: a crop, a side part, curls left long, or a slick back.
Low fade or taper — are they the same thing?
They overlap, and barbers use the words loosely. Practically: a taper describes how soft the graduation is, a low fade describes where it starts.
