What is a high and tight?
Sides and back taken very short or to the skin high up the head, with the top left short enough to need no styling — usually a few millimetres to a couple of centimetres. It is the military cut, adopted long ago by anyone who wants to stop thinking about their hair.
High and tight or buzz cut?
A buzz cut is one length all over. A high and tight has contrast: distinctly shorter sides, a longer top. If you want the simplicity of a buzz but still want the cut to have shape, this is the one.
How does it grow out?
Cleanly. There is no long hair to fall out of place, so it goes soft rather than messy. Three to four weeks between cuts is comfortable, and many clients pair it with a beard trim in the same hour.

It is the coolest cut on the menu in the literal sense — minimum hair, maximum airflow, nothing to restyle after the gym or the beach.
Will a high and tight suit my head shape?
It shows the head, so it flatters an even skull and is less forgiving of pronounced bumps or flat spots. Your barber will tell you honestly before starting.
Can I have a high and tight with a beard?
Yes, and the contrast works well — short hair with a shaped beard. Book the hour and ask for both.
